Tony Delk Tribute

First of all, if you haven’t seen Jarrod’s Facebook cover of Delk from the other day, check it out.

This is a little late for Tony Delk’s jersey retirement, but it’s never too late to honor Delk. He was one of my favorite players back in the day and continues to be one of my favorite players of all time. So with that, here is my tribute to double zero.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Karlito

I predict Towns will be one of the most dominate big men in the NBA in 5 years. Yes, Okafor will likely be the #1 overall draft pick, but Town’s ceiling is much higher in my opinion. The 7 footer is not only extremely skilled in the paint, he can also step out and hit the outside shot. Further, he is a great passer and is committed to defense. I haven’t seen an overall skill-set comparable to his since Tim Duncan.

In addition to his tremendous skill-set, Towns has something neither Okafor or Duncan has, a friend named Karlito.

What can you tell us about “Karlito?”

“He is such a great kid, he doesn’t want to talk back
to you so he turns his head to the side and talks to that little man on
his shoulder. After he started doing it I said, ‘Who are you talking
to?’ I can’t remember which of the coaches gave him the nickname, said
he’s talking to Karlito. He’s a great kid.”

So what does Karlito look like? No one knows. But if we had to guess, he looks something like this…

Marcus Lee – Unleashing the Beast

After WCS went down with injury in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Marcus Lee stepped up and unleashed his inner beast vs Michigan and throughout the tournament. He played above the rim and was a force on the inside. Grabbing key rebounds and slamming home put backs and alley oops. His exceptional play and effort helped to lead the Cats past Michigan and to another Final Four birth. I created this photoshop of him the night after his big performance.

Check of some of great play from Marcus that night. Still gives me chills everytime I watch.

Noel was from another planet too

During the 2013 season, the Rupp Rafters discussion forum had a photoshop thread dedicated to Nerlens Noel. At the time it was posted, I happen to be working on a Avatar tutorial for another website. I was attempting to turn a photo of a friend into a somewhat accurate looking Avatar using Corel Paint Shop Pro. While not perfect, it turned out alright.

Anyway, this gave me the idea to turn Noel into an Avatar for my contribution to the photoshop thread. Much like WCS, Noel was also a freak of nature athlete and likely from another planet. So the theme fit him perfectly. I didn’t spend as much attention to detail as I did in the original tutorial photo above. The Noel version was threw together for fun and I think it turned out hilariously good.

BTW, he was one of my all time favorite Wildcats. He was so talented defensively and he never took a play of either. Miss seeing the big guy wearing blue.
